The Unique Story Behind Your Hat

Before this hat makes it to your head, it’s been on quite a journey! Every piece is a labour of love, done by hand around the busy life of a mother of four:

1. 1. The Fabric Hunt

The process always starts with the fabric. I’m constantly hunting for textiles with a story, which means sourcing from everywhere: local op shops, tip shops, community give-away pages, and fabric destash groups. Finding the right print is a thrill, and it ensures every hat is completely unique. 

2. 2. The Hand-Cut Pieces

There are no shortcuts here! Once the fabric is found, I hand-cut all 20 individual pieces needed for every single hat. 

3. 3. The Batch Sewing Method (Around Family Life)

Creating one hat individually typically takes about two hours, but with four kids and a busy schedule of sports and school runs, I’ve mastered the art of batch sewing! While this process—done with many interruptions—might take me a week, it’s the most efficient way to ensure I can deliver the best quality, handmade goods around our family life.

4. 4. Reducing and Reusing

Sustainability extends to the very end! I create my own price tags using business tags and materials I have available. I’m always thrilled when thoughtful customers return these tags to me so they can live an even longer life.
